Certificate and Diploma Standards

As a professional examination board, we conduct examinations or other suitable tests with the objects of raising the status of those practicing commerce to high professional level and to certify them competent and award diploma.

When we indicate that our Certificates and Diplomas are equivalent to certain qualification, we mean that the degrees of difficulty and the amount of work and understanding called for to succeed are about the same for the qualifications. The Institutes Examination Scheme provides an examination service, which recognizes levels of achievements determined by established standards acceptable to the business and professional communities. These standards have been agreed in practical terms by businessmen and teachers of commerce and are based on the expectations of employers in satisfying their organizations. Our major criteria therefore apart from knowledge, ability to solve problems, control of skills, etc. are employability.

The syllabuses presented by Chartered Institute Of Commerce Of Nigeria for the award of Associate Diploma in various areas to the Federal Ministry of Education from foundation to final are “considered rich and compared favorably with the polytechnics standard for the award of Higher National Diploma and standards slightly above Higher National Diploma”. The courses and topics covered are wide enough to provide enough background in preparing the candidates as middle level manpower in Commercial and General Administration in Nigeria.
